kind words

from nyc interior design clients

“Beatrice did research for me and went to showrooms and warehouses to help me figure out what would work best for me in the space I had, within the budget I gave her. She has a great eye for design and color and is up to date on the latest trends. I would most definitely recommend Bea!”

Why Sensory Interior Design Is Important and How it Impacts You

Does your space feel like it drains you?

The way you feel each day is deeply influenced by how you live and work. If your environment doesn’t align with your needs, it can leave you feeling drained, overstimulated, and even affect your sleep.

That’s why our Sensorized® design approach is about more than creating a beautiful space.

It’s about designing an environment that helps regulate your nervous system, restores your energy, and supports who you are, at every level. Because when your space truly supports your emotional needs, it doesn’t just look better.

You feel better. You live better. You become more yourself.

We focus on creating spaces that feel peaceful and easy to live in. By thoughtfully arranging your environment to flow naturally and reduce sensory overload, we help ensure daily life feels less overwhelming and more manageable, even on the busiest days.

With our signature sensory-chic style, we add elegant and intentional touches that respect how you experience your space, transforming it into a place where you can truly relax, recharge, and be yourself.

The result? A space that finally feels like it fits you. Where you’re not overstimulated, distracted, or on edge. Instead, you’re calm, comfortable in your space, and feeling in control of your emotions.

purposeful design approach

why we enjoy being A NEW YORK CITY interior designer

There’s nothing like visiting NYC to get inspired. From the museums to the stores to the restaurants to the shows: inspiration is everywhere.

One of my favorite places to visit is MoMA and the MoMA Design Store. The Marcel Breuer furniture and early 20th century art on display always get my creative juices flowing. After visiting the galleries, I love to take a stroll up to Central Park to wander around.

Obviously there is no shortage of amazing restaurants. I like to grab a drink at Figaro. The interiors are beautiful and the ambiance is warm and elegant. Sometimes I stay for dinner, other times it’s just the perfect pre-dinner stop.

I’ll often meet my clients at Blue Bottle or La Colombe to discuss their projects over a delicious coffee.

Of course, ABC Carpet & Home is a must-visit for me. I love visiting each floor for furniture and home inspiration.

New York’s creativity and movement are unlike anywhere else. Whether I’m discovering a new favorite or revisiting an old one, the city always finds a way to refuel my inspiration.

As a New York City Interior Designer we specialize in creating comfortable spaces, even if your home is a small apartment. Learn about our tips for city living in small spaces and maximizing space in a NYC apartment and read about how we designed a NYC tween bedroom.

frequently asked questions

A NYC interior designer plans and designs interior spaces with both function and aesthetics in mind. This includes space planning, layouts, lighting, materials, finishes, furnishings, and how a space supports the way people live and move through it. Interior decorating focuses primarily on surface level styling like furniture, color, and accessories.

At BRT Interior Design, we look far beyond how a space looks. We consider how it feels and how it functions on a daily basis. I design spaces from a psychological and behavioral perspective, taking into account how layout, color, lighting, and flow impact focus, stress levels, and overall well being. My role often includes problem solving, strategic planning, and guiding clients through decisions that support both beauty and everyday life.

The cost of hiring a New York City interior designer varies depending on the scope of the project, the level of service, and how involved the designer is throughout the process. Pricing can be influenced by the size of the space, the complexity of the design, the timeline, and whether project management or sourcing is included.

At BRT Interior Design, pricing is structured to be clear and intentional. I offer defined services such as a design consultation, Design in a Day, design only packages, and full service design. My packages range from $500-$10, 000 for the design fee. This allows Manhattan homeowners to choose the level of support that fits their needs and budget. I believe transparency builds trust, so expectations around fees, scope, and deliverables are discussed upfront before any work begins.

NYC interior design timelines can range from a few weeks to several months depending on the project type, decision making speed, construction needs, and product lead times. Design only projects tend to move faster, while full service projects with renovations or custom work take longer.

At BRT Interior Design, timelines are thoughtfully planned from the start. A Design in a Day delivers a complete design plan in a single focused session. Larger projects are broken into clear phases so clients always know what comes next. I prioritize realistic timelines that respect both the creative process and real life schedules.

Many people assume interior designers only work with brand new furniture, but that is not always the case. A good designer knows how to balance what already exists with new additions to create a cohesive space.

At BRT Interior Design, I often work with existing furnishings in your New York City home when they serve the space well. If a piece has good proportions, function, or emotional value, I will design around it. New pieces are introduced only when they truly enhance the space or solve a problem. The goal is never to replace for the sake of replacing, but to create a space that feels intentional and balanced.

A successful interior design project starts with listening. Understanding how a client lives in their Manhattan home, what they respond to visually, and what is not working in their current space is essential to creating a design that feels personal and supportive.

At BRT Interior Design, every project begins with one core question. How do you want this space to feel? From there, I dive into your routines, preferences, sensitivities, and goals. I use a combination of conversation, visual references, and intuition to translate your needs into a design that feels like you, not a showroom.

For many projects, collaboration between designers and contractors is essential to ensure the design is executed correctly. Coordination helps avoid costly mistakes, miscommunication, and delays.

At BRT Interior Design, I collaborate closely with contractors, builders, and other NYC professionals when the scope requires it. Whether that means providing detailed plans, answering questions during construction, or guiding design decisions along the way, my role is to protect the integrity of the design and support a smooth process from start to finish.
